A short description about your blog

The Tough Mudder adventure race is “Probably the Toughest Event on the Planet” and 8 of our staff decided they were up to the challenge!  On April 15th Brandon Dreffs, Tom Correll, Elizabeth Hudson, Shannon Raab, Jerrid Hunt, Adam DuCharme, Jason Carlisle and Shelly Hilton traveled to Amherst Quarry in Ohio to overcome the 12 miles and 25 military style obstacles as a united team.

Returning counselors and mission team members are looking forward to re-connecting with our campers and their families with our Annual Phone-A-Thon May 7th, 9th, and 11th.

Michigan Y Camp Month involves 16 Michigan YMCA Camps networking together in celebration and promotion of high quality and mission-driven Y camps.  Facebook has served as a valuable medium for campers young and old to truly learn the value of a summer camp experience through storytelling. Or to stay in touch and continue the friendships started and/or nurtured at camp.

As the kickoff for Michigan Y Camp Month, Shannon Raab, Camp Copneconic Day Camp Director, launched her YouTube career by sharing the traditional art of S’more making. Campers young and old will enjoy this tutorial from a seasoned pro around the campfire.

Campers, families, board members, staff, and community volunteers will come together on May 17th, arriving sometime between 2 and 8 pm, to participate in our annual Camp Fix up Day.

Camp Copneconic is the ‘genuine article’ in every way!  Camp combines the substance of shaping friendship, values, and personal growth with the sizzle of shaping fun, imagination, and adventure.  Add these ingredients together and your child will laugh and enjoy his or her way through a memorable summer camp experience.  Moreover, camp helps to shape the lives of children.

YMCA Camp Copneconic and the Genesee District Library are excited to announce their first annual summer community partnership! The purpose of this exciting partnership is to inspire children to expand their knowledge, explore new things and experience imaginative adventures.

My son, James, was a participant in one of Camp Copneconic’s resident camps this summer, and I’m offering a belated by very enthusiastic thank you note to your staff – in particular to Matt and Nick of Boone Cabin – who were instrumental in assuring that James had a positive experience.

MACC 2012During the week of January 16th-20th 185 Day and Resident Camp Directors and Program Staff from 22 states and over 100 YMCAs attended the Mid America Camping Conference hosted at Camp Copneconic. The staff at Copneconic participated in the conference and attended the educational sessions being offered.  The week was highlighted by professional keynote speakers as well as 30 breakout sessions for participants to choose from.

YMCA Camp Copneconic is where campers shape their lives … one summer at a time!  This is our mantra. It’s what we stand for. To shape the lives of children through friendship, leadership skills, first-time experiences, new skills, and of course fun and memories.  The summer of 2012 guarantees a medley of tweaks and enhancements that will help to build upon an already established culture of excellence.
