Entering 3rd – 6th Grades

Outdoor adventure and healthy living go hand-in-hand at camp. the Y and hurley Wellness Services are teaming to provide an experience that is not only jam-packed with FUN, but active lifestyle choices. Campers learn valuable habits such as nutritious eating and cooking, as well as physical fitness, while enjoying an authentic camp experience. Campers leave with the skills needed to maintain a healthy weight and a ‘Move It’ lifestyle.

Variety seekers experience a full spectrum of ‘Choice’ activities more than once. Campers customize their camp experience and are given a medley of program choices on a daily basis including watersports, horseback riding, high adventure, extreme games, arts and crafts, target sports, fishing, and much more.

Entering Grades 4th – 10th

Circle C Ranch Camp is designed for riders of all levels who want to advance their equestrian skills.  Campers strengthen friendships in their skill groups while bonding with their horse.  Lessons focus on skills ranging from adventurous Western trail riding to show ring etiquette.  From barrels to jumping, your camper will build confidence as an equestrian.

Entering Grades 5th – 11th

A great opportunity for experienced riders with previous experience who want to fully immerse themselves in advancing their horse knowledge.  A “Full Day” of horse time and special activities offered only during Horse Masters provide for an enriching equestrian experience.  Special guests may include visits from our farrier, veterinarian and other experts.  If you’ve ever dreamed of living down at the ranch, you belong at Horse Masters!

TWO WEEK OVERNIGHT CAMP! Campers experience two ‘action-packed’ weeks of fun, personal discovery and variety, with extra time to deepen friendships. Crazy about Copneconic is our most popular camp as campers enjoy favorite activities more than once. A special weekend stay is the highlight as ‘two Weekers’ enjoy all of Camp Copneconic to themselves!

Entering 12th grade

A Two-Week Overnight Camp! CIT’s learn what it takes to be a counselor. After a two-night camping trip emphasizing leadership and teambuilding, trainees learn the skills necessary to becoming a counselor. A weekend of fun and friendship follows where a passion for Camp becomes fully on display as trainees assist in creating meaningful experiences for younger campers. CIT’s are asked to apply using the CIT Packet below. An interview with a senior camp staff will then follow.

Age 8 – Entering 12th Grade

Participants will have an opportunity to work on competitive swimming skills outdoors in Lake Copneconic and indoors at a local lap pool.  The camp experience will also include daily conditioning, keynote speakers, training by YMCA competitive swim coaches, traditional camp activities and more!

Travel Trip Adventure Series

YMCA Camp Copneconic offers trips for teen summer campers looking for a fun and challenging experience. Each trip offers its own array of activities and adventures.


Entering Grades 8th – 11th

A new tradition to Copneconic, this all-girl based backpacking trip explores all that Northern Michigan’s South Manitou Island has to offer.  The trip begins with a night in Glen Arbor before the ferry departs for the island the next morning. Campers will learn outdoor and team building skills as they shape their own experience, choosing together what hikes to venture on each day.  Girls will discover their inner potential, be empowered, and develop a new found appreciate for nature through guiding principals such as “Leave no Trace.”

Entering Grades 8th – 11th

A new tradition to Copneconic, this all-boy backpacking trip explores all that Norther Michigan’s North Manitou Island has to offer.  Rugged and free, camper will tap into their inner outdoorsman as they work together to read maps, cook their own food, and set up their tents under the extravagant northern stars.  After a hike to Manitou Lake, a romp around Crescent Dock Ruins, and a refreshing swim in Lake Michigan, campers will surely make memories that last a lifetime!

This co-ed trip explores all that Michigan has to offer! From sailing on Traverse Bay and tubing down the Platte River, to sea kayaking, and sand dune exploring along beautiful Lake Michigan. This scenic trip culminates with an excursion to Michigan’s Adventure to top off an already action-packed week of fun!
